Privacy
MyEVRange is deliberately light on personal data. You can browse the site and log a journey without creating an account or giving us your name.

What we keep
For a journey we keep the car, miles driven, battery percentages, calculated range, the simple conditions you selected and the result of our checks.
We do not ask for your name, home address, vehicle registration number or a public profile. To stop repeated entries from one browser overwhelming the results and to reduce spam, we use a random contributor ID and one-way hashes made from technical information such as your IP address and browser. These are not shown publicly or used to build advertising profiles.
Why we use it
We use this information to build the owner range figures, keep repeated submissions from dominating the results, check unusual activity and keep the site secure. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interests in running a fair and useful consumer information service.
First-party site analytics
We keep simple first-party usage analytics so we can see which pages are useful and where people stop in the journey-contribution process. The analytics record the page or event, time, broad traffic source, device type and, where relevant, the vehicle being viewed. A one-way technical hash derived from connection and browser information is used to estimate unique visitors.
Raw IP addresses and full browser user-agent strings are not stored in the MyEVRange analytics table. We do not use a third-party analytics service or analytics cookies. Recent broad traffic-source attribution may be carried across the same visit for up to two hours using that one-way hash. Detailed analytics events are kept for up to 90 days and are used to improve the site and understand whether features such as journey contribution are working.
Cookies
- Session cookie: used only when the site needs it, for example to protect a form or sign an administrator in.
- Contributor cookie: created when you log a journey without email. It contains a random ID and lasts for up to one year so repeated submissions can be handled fairly.
We do not currently use behavioural advertising or third-party analytics cookies. Our own lightweight analytics does not set an analytics cookie. If we add non-essential third-party tracking later, we will add the appropriate consent controls first.
Keeping and sharing data
Accepted journey data may be kept as part of the long-term range record. Technical IP/browser hashes are removed from older submissions after about 12 months, expired verification data is cleared and old rejected submissions are routinely deleted.
We do not sell contributor information. Hosting, email and other technical providers may process limited information where needed to run MyEVRange. If a provider processes data outside the UK, appropriate safeguards will be used where required.
Your rights and contact
UK data-protection law gives you rights over personal data we hold about you. Because journey data is intentionally stored without a name, we may need enough information from you to locate the relevant record.
